Good examples of strategic leverage

We all  want free stuff, yet we rarely ask ourselves what it means to receive something for free.
Let me burst your bubble: There’s nothing free in life!
Do you enjoy the extraordinary web search capabilities of Google? What about amazing Gmail? Can you live without Google Maps? YouTube is flawless! Google Docs … unbelievably reliable!
But wait … all ‘FREE’ services?
What about Facebook and Instagram? Do you enjoy these FREE social media platforms?
To answer your question, what’s a good example of strategic leverage?
Think of Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram as examples.
Google generated $134.8 billion in 2019, (just from ad revenues). Facebook sold $69.7 billion, and YouTube $15 billion in 2019 in ads.

A good example of strategic leverage is having billions of addicted people investing their time (for free), feeding content to your platform, while they’re also consuming other users’ — free — content.
Meanwhile, while we’re strangely giving away our valuable time “working” for the platform, they make billions selling our attention to other companies who are super desperate to sell us something else.
Actually, to date, Facebook is worth over 620 billion USD. Not a bad business.
Left to me this is a win-win case scenario , so I will advice we all to work smart not hard .
I really do encourage us all to utilize our time efficiently on all this platform ,YES you too can profit off this platform.

Yes , your small company can compete with large companies

Have you ever thought of how Netflix won the movie rental business ?

How did Uber take over the  taxi /car hire industry?
How GSM beat NITEL communication?
How WHATSAPP has taken over  SMS ?
How did a small startup named “Google” take over Yahoo!?
How could Sam Walton (Walmart) pulverize the behemoth retailer Kmart?
Why is Walmart now so scared of Jeff Bezos’s Amazon?
Every “David and Goliath” story in business has the same foundation.
Can you see it?
It’s no mystery. It’s called INNOVATION !
I’m talking about financial innovation , technological innovation , distribution innovation , talent innovation , branding innovation... etc.
So, to answer the question, how can small companies  compete with large corporations?
The ONLY way for small businesses to compete (and win) the battle against large corporations is through innovation.
So what battle would you pick against large companies?

Best ways to promote your brand for free

To promote a product, business, or service, gone are the days you put holes in your pocket all in the name advertising. Here are few pocket friendly ways to promotional strategies that you can use in your endeavor to attract customers, increase your sales, and generate more profits.
It doesn’t matter if you sell online or you have a physical store .
The best part is that most of these strategies will not cost you a penny .
Here are the  steps to promote your brand for free .

Promote yourself on social networks

Social networks are the perfect marketing tool for the 21st-century entrepreneur.
Opening an account on a social network will not cost you anything, and you will reach hundreds and even thousands of potential customers. But you must know how to use them effectively. To promote a product or a business on social networks, it is not enough to create a profile and wait for the fans to arrive.

Create a profile on up to 3 social networks (Facebook is almost mandatory, and it would also be a good idea on Twitter and Instagram)
Do not post a simple link to your products or your business: accompany it with an attractive text that makes your fans want to click on it
Also, share publications of other pages with interesting content
Show information that makes your fans interested in your product or business (for example, photos of how your products are created, videos using your articles)
ALWAYS answer the questions or comments that your followers leave you
Create contests or fun events that your fans can interact with
Post interesting content (motivating phrases, amazing photos) for users to share and thus reach more people.

Encourage buying with discount vouchers

A discount voucher is a tool that can make you not only get more sales, but also retain customers. The secret for this promotion strategy to work is to limit the time in which this discount can be used (for example, a discount that lasts only 5 days), and only a small number of people can use it. This will create in the client a sense of exclusivity (only he or she can use it) and of urgency.

How to offer this discount? There are several methods:
Through your Facebook page (only for followers)
Sending an email to the subscribers of your newsletter on your website .
Giving a discount voucher to customers who make a purchase in your physical or online business
Delivering a limited number of discounts on a street near your physical store.

Do give away on popular bloggers and YouTubers
This is a method that both large and small companies use because the results are very good and hardly cost money. It consists of locating blogs with good visits and popularity, but related to your business, and contacting bloggers to send them your product for free in exchange for talking about it to their readers.

If you produce consumable item, look for NGO and send them some of your products in exchange for them to tag and acknowledge you. If you sell apps for the cell phone, look for YouTube channels where they talk about technology or video games and give them free access to your app so that they can show it to their audience.

Offer free samples to your buyers
There is no better way to attract customers and buy them again and again than allowing them to try your products first. It is true that not all businesses can do this (a computer store cannot give a computer as a sample); But if your merchandise allows it, giving a sample of it is an excellent promotion strategy. The free samples can be given in the same physical store when a person makes a purchase - this way the client will feel special and will return to buy you - or distribute samples at home in the mailboxes of the houses.

If you have an online store, send a sample with each order or allow people to request a sample without having to buy. In case you sell digital services or products (ebooks, mp3 music, consulting services), give free access to that service for a couple of days or send them a part of that service for free (for example, a couple of chapters of your free ebook).

Collaborate with other businesses
A good idea is to look for other businesses that are not your direct competitors, but have customers in common with you, and collaborate with them to send you customers of the other. For example, if you have a cell phone store, you can partner with a computerness. When someone is going to buy you, talk to them about the computer store and give them a discount for that business, and have the computer store do the same for their customers, another example is a saloon giving out discount on certain hair wig and have the  wig store reciprocate, this is an excellent way to motivate you, to become more known, and to increase your client base by helping other entrepreneurs like you.

Do demonstrations or small free courses

Offering free demonstrations of your products in your business is another good way to attract the attention of your customers to make your small business known. Not only will you be able to awaken your curiosity in your merchandise, but you will also make the desire to buy it increase when they see the benefits they can provide.

One way to do this is to offer small courses that do not last more than two hours in which you teach how to use that article. Make the demonstrations in days that you have more clients in your business so that they see the test more people. The large Apple company often uses this method and have verified that it is a great way to increase their sales. They usually do small workshops every so often (3 months, 6 months) that only last a couple of hours one afternoon, and show the operation of the new iPad, the new iPhone, or any other accessory that they have just launched on the market.

This few  techniques  seem simple but they work very effectively, and are used around the world by both large and small companies, as well as by people who are starting their way in the entrepreneurial world.

A few tips on how to standout among competitors

Let assume you  cannot reduce costs  to compete on price, here are  some options you can work with :

  1. Differentiate by product quality -:  Increase the cost and quality of your product, (more features, better service, premium-category marketing) that would justify a higher price for some consumers and hit the "premium" side of the market. Benz does not compete with Toyota on price.
  2. Differentiate by placement and convenience -: Customers satisfaction should be your priority  (e.g. through better/cheaper customer service, guarantees, proximity to support, this really depends on your business) or offer convenience in the purchase (better placement, local presence). The idea here is that the cost to the consumer is not just the price - a 100 naira bread next door is "cheaper" than a 70 naira bread on the other side of town.
  3. Differentiate by segment specialization-: Co-exist with the competitor by targeting a specific niche. You can often position a product by changing it to be more relevant/valuable to a specific type of customer (either with actual changes or with marketing it that way) without changing the actual cost of production (sometimes you can lower the cost this way by offering a subset of the features that fits the segment). You can segment the product and target 2-3 specific market niches while your competitor has a more generic mass market product
  4. Differentiate on perception -:Good marketing can make a product be perceived as more valuable by attaching "badge value" to it, or simply by getting mindshare on specific consumers and make them think of it as a better option. While this looks a lot like deception, it is not. Gucci does not make bags that are strictly so much better than their competition, but carrying one has value beyond the actual materials and service.

  1. Note -:that all suggestions have one thing in common: differentiation. Commoditization is bad for you. If the product is or is perceived as identical to the competition, then consumers choose only based on price. In reality there are more factors in consumer decisions and products can (and should) be differentiated by design, service and marketing in ways that cause consumers to weigh in additional considerations such as relevance, situational value, badge value, etc, in their buying decision.
  2. If your product is genuinely a commodity (think hard before you say it is, there are very few truely non-differentiated product classes) then either make it cheap or make something else. (or be the best marketer in history)

To not put our eggs in one basket, as some are cleaning, others can learn how to make disinfectant products with this we all can be on the winning side .

Entertainment industry-:
This goes out to the actors/ actresses, club owners , drink companies , consumable manufacturing companies.
You all need to come together to create a win- win strategy, now the online presence is massive.
Actors/ Actresses,  talk to your PR /manager to discuss with consumable production companies tell them how you can put their products in consumers mind .
Eg -: toke Makinwa should discuss about golden penny with her fans .
DaddyFreeze  should discuss about a certain groundnut oil explaining how it gives fries that crispy taste .
Club owners should collaborate with drink companies  . Eg -:club quilox should go on an Instagram live partnership with brands like Hennessy , the Dj booth should be branded with the drinks logo , then the dj should entertain his fans , this is a win-win scenario .

Information technology-:
Am sure we all know what information technology is , some of us call it IT , this sector is massive and can provide  robust income also .
Everybody wants to showcase their products online .
Now is the time for web developers and so on to showcase their talents , don’t just sit at home you can source for jobs online . You can visit sites such as fiverr.com , freelancer.com etc .

I Am sure some people are saying we that are not tech Savvy how do we survive, not to worry I have you in mind.
you can learn content writing, data entry, audio transcription etc , all you need is just a phone or laptop, and the good thing is you don’t need to know anything about IT , register on fiver and freelancer then start earning .
Last but not least , we all want to be online right ?
Don’t you think we need someone to secure us online , this is where cyber security comes in.

Full gist of Kim Kardashian's baby shower

It's baby shower time! Kim Kardashian, along with about 100 of her nearest and dearest, gathered together today at the Beverly Hills pad of Irving and Shelley Azoff to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her and Kanye West's bundle of joy. The "ladies brunch," began around 11:30 a.m., and guests—who were all given handmade wildflower wreaths to wear on their head—made their way to the backyard, which was decorated with white drapes and white flowers. Guests were offered a traditional buffet of eggs, bacon, lox and bagels, pancakes and waffles, along with an omelette station and mimosas to drink. To satisfy their sweet tooth, a dessert station was set up, which offered pink cotton candy, pink lollipops and strawberry shortcake. Kim, who was in a cheerful mood, wore a long, flowy ivory dress with flat sandals, and styled her hair into three braids with gold ribbons. Kris Jenner gave a tearful champagne toast, talking about her daughter's new chapter and welcoming Kanye's family (who were also in attendance). "She gave a speech and said she couldnt believe her baby is going to be a mom," a guest tells E! News. The event featured many famous faces, including Maria Menounos, Kelly Osbourne, NeNe Leakes, Tracy Anderson, Kimberly Stewart, Nicole Richie and Brittney Gastineau, along with sisters Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian Odom and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, of course. The only men in attendance were Lamar Odom and Scott Disick, who were busy taking care of Mason, and Kanye, who arrived near the end of the party.

Rihanna smile's to the bank as "Unapologetic " goes platinum

Rihanna should just throw it up, throw it up! Because she is getting money, man.

Rihanna's seventh studio album, Unapologetic, officially passed the million-dollar mark this week after selling another 9,000 copies. It's the sixth RiRi album to go platinum. (Rihanna's 2005 debut, Music of the Sun, has only sold 607,000 copies to date.)

Unapologetic has been on the billboard charts for 27 weeks now. This is relevant info because it took Talk That Talk — the album before Unapologetic — 43 weeks to sell a million copies.

Meaning, it's clear that Rihanna is only just getting more popular.

Expect Unapologetic to keep on selling. "Right Now," which features David Guetta, is the next single and it looks like it will be the fifth off Unapologetic to chart on Billboard.
